WORK EXPERIENCE

Here & Now, NPR and WBUR | Boston, US | June 2022-present
Producer (October 2024-present) – Building on the work I did as an Associate Producer, but now incorporating more autonomy into my work and occasionally covering the directing of the daily show when called upon.

Associate Producer (June 2022-October 2024) – Story pitching, guest booking, recording, audio editing and scripting up to three segments of the show a day. Writing the online copy for bigger feature pieces I have produced. Line producing from the Boston studio which includes calling guests, doing last minute factchecks and script edits, as well as operating as the primary communication line between the studio and everyone else outside the studio.

Times Radio, News UK | London, UK | October 2020-August 2021
Late Night Producer – Output produced, audio edited and scripted for Carole Walker’s 3-hour live news and interview show on Times Radio – a part of The Times of London newspaper. I was responsible for identifying and booking 8 to 13 guests for each broadcast to discuss politics, current affairs and foreign policy issues. Guests included British, US and other national politicians, as well as celebrities, journalists, academics, news and policy makers and other public and private sector individuals.

LBC Radio, Global Media Group | London, UK | April 2017-November 2020
US Election Planning Producer (September 2020-November 2020) – Planned all coverage and guests for US Election night coverage and booked high profile guests in the build up, including sitting politicians and representatives of both the Republican and Democrat campaigns. I was also responsible for compiling fact files and information on a wide range of aspects surrounding the US Elections

Senior Producer for Overnight and Early Breakfast shows (May 2019 – October 2020) – Output produced for LBC Radio, the talk radio arm of the UK’s Global Media organization and the commercial speech station with the highest listenership in the UK. I oversaw all programming aired between 1am and 7am, Monday to Friday. Booked an average of 5-10 guests daily on topics including politics and cultural affairs as well as compiling the top stories from that day’s newspapers for my hosts to discuss.

Podcast Producer (December 2018 – October 2020) – I produced a 45-minute weekly celebrity interview podcast called Steve Allen In Conversation With. Arranged interviews, prepared background research for the presenter and then recorded and edited the show for release on our podcast platform. As the Producer of Steve Allen’s A Little Bit Extra (at the time Global’s most downloaded podcast) I collated stories from the latest news from the showbiz sections of the morning’s newspapers and typed up an order sheet to give the podcast a narrative structure. I would also record and edit the podcast and add in sound effects and advert markers.

Cover Producer (May 2018 – May 2019) – Output produced shows when a producer was off and cover was required.

Assistant Producer (April 2017 – November 2018) – Answered listener phone calls and prepared them for air, called guests and controlled the playout system and audio experience for listeners.

Classic FM, Global Media Group | London, UK | January 2017-April 2017
Production Intern – I co-produced a weekday 2-hour evening show, “Full Works Concert”. I helped choose the music, script write for presenters and ran the desk for the show.

BBC Radio 3 | Cardiff & Leeds, UK | August 2015-September 2015
Work Experience Researcher/Runner – I assisted in the production of a special series of programs surrounding the Leeds International Piano Competition. I did research for the ‘Composer of the Week’, (legally) photocopied music for Concertos to be used by presenters. At the event I acted as a runner, relaying key information between producers, presenters, guests and staff and interviewing competitors for broadcast.

Coastal TV | Cape Coast, Ghana | June 2015-July 2015
News & Production Intern – In this internship I took on a key role in the production of ‘News this Week’​ at Coastal TV. My role as News Intern involved news gathering and camerawork with a team for local news stories, as well as gathering information and videos on international news and recording voiceovers for news segments. In the production role I co-produced news segments for the weekly current affairs show ‘News this Week’, writing news scripts and deciding story order.

EDUCATION

Columbia Graduate School of Journalism, Columbia University in the City of New York | New York, USA | August 2021-May 2022
Master of Arts, specializing in politics and global affairs. Honors thesis on the record high rate of drug deaths in Scotland and the wider issue of substance use policy in the nation. I also wrote pieces on Donald Trump’s Aberdeenshire Golf Course and the problems surrounding it, the MTA and the New York subway’s struggles to be ADA complaint and various aspects of UK politics and society. I attended with the support of the Hugh Fulton Byas Memorial Fund and Morton Mintz Fund.

University of Aberdeen Department of Music | Aberdeen, UK | August 2012-June 2016
Bachelor of Music, specializing in music in media and ethnomusicology. Honors thesis on themes of antisemitism and childhood mortality in Gustav Mahler’s music and his writing about the antisemitic sentiment in his hometown. Whilst at the university I wrote for the student newspaper – The Gaudie – and became the News Editor for the weekly publication in my junior year.
